When the sheep stopped to graze, he took out his piccolo and played soft and sweet music. The Shepherd Akoytraba is carefree and at ease. He has neither enjoyed the joy of passionate love nor the pain of broken love.

The Shepherd Meets the Two Daughters of the Sun God

The shepherd immerse in the kingdom of his free reverie, unaware that the two daughters of the sun god have come to him. It wasn’t until the daughter of the sun god asked questions that she woke up from her contemplation. When she saw that the daughter of the sun god had descended from the sky, she couldn’t help panicking, knelt on the ground, and bowed her head in silence.

The two daughters of the sun god told the Shepherd not to be afraid, told him that they were the daughters of the sun god, and to assuage his fear, they kindly took him by the arms and made him rise. The young shepherds stood up and kissed their hand, he marveled at the extraordinary beauty of the daughters of the sun god. The two daughters of the sun god had a long and joyful conversation with him.

The Shepherd and “the two Daughters of the Sun God”

It was time for the sheep to go to the pen, and the young Shepherd bid farewell to the two daughters of the sun god and went home. The older of the two daughters of the sun god was Chuliliangto. The young man’s handsome and polite demeanor deeply attracted her, so she asked him his name and where he lived. The young shepherd replied respectfully: His name is Akoytraba, and he lives in Paris.

Chuliliangto stared closely at the silvery white feather stuck on his forehead. This is an Indian decoration. It sways in the wind, sparkles and is fascinating. At the base of the feather, there is also a bronze plaque to engrave with two fleas devouring a heart. The carving is delicate and lifelike. Chuliliangto borrowed the bronze medal from the young shepherd to look at it and then gave it back to him. The young shepherd told her that the Indians called the bronze medal Uduhi. Then, they said goodbye to each other and went home separately.

Chuliliangto, the daughter of the sun god, fell in love with the shepherd

Chuliliangto, the daughter of the sun god, kept talking about the shepherd with her sister along the way, never forgetting the beautiful feather on his head and the exquisitely carved bronze plaque. When they entered the palace, the guards carefully inspected them. According to the past, many daughters of the sun god hid their lovers in their sleeves or hair buns and sneaked into the palace. Therefore, the guard inspection was very strict afterwards. When they returned to the palace, the sun god’s concubines had already prepared delicacies, waiting for them to eat together when they came back. Chuliliangto took the excuse that she too tired from walking, so she didn’t have dinner, and went back to her room to rest. The great love for the shepherd made her sleepless, and she tossed and turned, her thoughts churning. Then she fell asleep in a daze.

The Sun God has many beautiful concubines who live in magnificent palaces. They come from the four provinces of Chinchasuyo, Erdesuyo, Antisuyo and Corazuyo in the Inca Empire. There are also four fountains in the palace, the spring water is clear and sweet, flowing to the four provinces respectively. The concubines bathed in the clear springs that flowed to their provinces of birth. Shixiang Spring, Laver Spring, Cress Spring and Frog Spring are four fountains.

Chuliliangto, the daughter of the sun god, fell in love with the shepherd deeply, and trouble

The beautiful Chuliliangto had a dream in her deep sleep. She dreamed that a beautiful yellow warbler flew from one tree to another, singing a beautiful and melodious song. After singing happily for a while, it flew to Chuliliangto’s arms, comforting her not to be sad and distressed, and everything will be smooth and happy. Churilianto said that if there was no way to heal her pain, she would die. Huang Ying said: “Tell me what pain you have! I will help you with advice.” So Chuliliangto asked her to express her fiery love for the shepherd. She said she had seen her own end. Now there is no other way but to elope with the shepherd. Because, sooner or later, her father and concubines will find her love, and at that time, his father will order her to execute.

The oriole suggest Chuliliangto to pour out inner secrets to the four fountains

The oriole flapped its wings and answered her, “Get up and sit down in the middle of the four fountains. Then, you sing and pour out your inner secrets. If the fountain sings with you and repeats what you have said, then you can be your what you want to do, and it will be safe.” As soon as the bird finished speaking, it flew away.

Chuliliangto woke up anxiously, recalling the words of the bird in the dream, immediately put on her clothes, quietly ran to the center of the four fountains, and began to pour out the secrets in her heart. She recalled the polite manner of the young shepherd, his handsome and unrestrained demeanor, the feathers on his head, and the copper plate with two fleas holding his heart torn apart. At last, she lamented: “Akoytraba, my heart breaks for missing you.” After a while, the fountain sang, repeating her words one after another, and the daughter of the sun god saw the sympathy and patronage of the fountain for her, went home happily, lay down and rested, and let the fountain continue to sing there.

The shepherd fell deeply in love with Chuliliangto, the daughter of the sun god, and was in great distress

When the shepherd Akoytraba returned to his hut, the beautiful figure of Chuliliangto always appeared in his mind. Love has taken root in his heart. He could have worked hard to realize his wish and let love bear fruit. But one immortal and one ordinary, this kind of love is a luxury that cannot to realize at all. He picked up the flute and played a sad tune, pouring out the pain and sorrow in his heart, and this tune rocks the surrounding mountains, and trees move and shed tears.

The shepherd was so sad that he passed out on the ground after playing the flute. When the shepherd awoke, he found himself drowning in his streaming tears. He sighed with infinite sorrow: “Oh, poor shepherd, how unfortunate you are! Your end has come. Because the God of hope has rejected your inner pleading, there is no panacea to save you in the world. Poor, hopeless shepherd!” After speaking, he fainted again.

The shepherd’s mother know that her son fell in love with the sun god’s daughter

The shepherd’s mother lived in Paris and learned from divination that her son was in danger and would die if he not rescues in time. When she understood the cause of her son’s sorrow and misfortune, she immediately picked up a very delicate and beautiful crutch and set off on the road without delay.

When the sun was rising, she came to her son’s thatched hut, went in and saw that her son was sleeping drowsily, with tears running down his face, and tried to wake him up. The son opened his eyes and saw that it was his mother, and immediately hugged her and cried bitterly. His mother tried to comfort him and tell him not to be sad. She stroked her son’s cheek and said that it wouldn’t be long before she healed his wounds. After speaking, she walked out of the hut, found some snails in the crevices of the rocks on the mountain, made a pot of snail soup and waited.

The daughter of the Sun God, Chuliliangto, who suffered from longing, and the shepherd

Chuliliangto asked her to get up at dawn, and when it was time to go out for a walk, she asked her sister to go straight to Akoytraba’s hut. Her heart full of love could not delay her for a moment. When the two sisters reached the door of the hut, they sat down on a stone, for they tired from walking so quickly.

They saw a kind old woman in the hut, and after saying hello, they asked her if she had anything for them to eat. The old woman knelt on the ground respectfully and replied that there was snail soup. She served them each a bowl. The sisters drank with gusto.

Chuliliangto did not find the shepherd, but his mother gives the crutches to her

While drinking the snail soup, Chuliliangto raised her watery eyes, and quietly patrolled around the hut, but did not find the shepherd she was thinking about so much. It turned out that his mother’s magic power did hide the shepherd in the crutch. The daughter of the sun god thought that he might have gone out to shepherd the sheep, so she didn’t ask much.

At this time, Chuliliangto saw the exquisite and beautiful crutch, and immediately fell in love with it. So he asked the old woman where she got this crutch, and if she could sell it to her, she would pay a very high price. The old woman replied that long ago the stick had belonged to one of the mistresses of the sun god Bachakamak. Later, she inherits it. She said, since the daughter of the sun god likes it, I will give it to you. Chuliliangto thanked the old woman, picked up the crutches, stayed in front of the hut for a while, bid farewell to the old woman and walked towards the prairie.

Along the way, Chuliliangto looked around, looking for her beloved shepherd, but she never found him. She felt lonely, depressed and silent, and returned to the palace with the great pain of not being able to meet her sweetheart. The guard checked them again as usual. But finding nothing but the crutch, the guard let in them.

After dinner, everyone went back to their rooms to rest. After playing with the cane for a while, Chuliliangto put it on the bedside and lay down to sleep. In the empty boudoir, she was full of thoughts, thinking of the shepherd and her dream, and couldn’t help crying, soaking the pillow.

Chuliliangto finally see the shepherd

Suddenly, she heard someone calling her, “Chuliliangto! Chuliliangto!” She startled, and hurriedly got out of bed and lit the lamp. In the shadow of the lamp, there was a person kneeling beside her bed. It was none other than the shepherd she missed day and night. Surprised and delighted, Chuliliangto hurriedly stepped forward to hold him back and asked him how he got in. Chuliliangto hurriedly draped the delicately woven blanket over the shepherd’s body. They hugged and kissed tightly, telling each other the pain and longing after parting. After daybreak, the shepherd got into the crutch again.

When the sun showed a smiling face and sprinkled thousands of golden lights all over the earth, Chuliliangto happily left his father’s palace alone with a walking stick. She walked towards the grassland and turned into a ravine. At this time, the shepherd came out of his crutches.

The guard discovered the love between the shepherd and the daughter of the Sun God, Chuliliangto

So, the lovers got together happily again. Who would have expected that the cunning guard somehow noticed something was wrong, and followed Chuliliangto quietly. When he saw her hugging a young man who came from nowhere, he immediately shouted loudly. The lovers, intoxicated with happiness, take aback. Seeing that the guard discovered the secret, they fled in panic to the mountains near the city of Kalka. They ran, ran, and ran until they exhausted and out of breath.

The shepherd in love and the daughter of the sun god, Chuliliangto, turned into a stone statue

Later, they couldn’t run anymore, so they sat down on a big rock. Unexpectedly, they fell into a drowsy sleep as soon as they stopped. Because they exhausted from running. In their sleep, a loud noise suddenly woke them up. The two were about to continue to escape when they found that their hands and feet were stiff and they couldn’t control them. Suddenly, they were two stone statues: Chiullianto with one shoe on and one bare, holding the other shoe in her hand; and Akoytraba looking towards the city of Calca.

So far, if people look towards Guarabamba and Kalka, they can still see the two stone statues, still maintaining the momentary posture they formed.
