Foreword:
This article mainly tells the story of woodcarving beauty and 6 hours of daylight. Long ago, day and darkness were the private property of the sun god and the night god. There is more darkness than light in the world, so Imana Darotu wrapped some of the darkness in a scarf and locked it in a box. Unexpectedly, his brother-in-law opened the box, and the darkness expanded rapidly. She exchanged a beautiful woman with the Sun God for 6 hours of daytime; the Night God despised that the daytime was too short, so he gave the Sun God a wooden beauty in exchange for 6 hours of daytime. The daylight of the world becomes 12 hours. The sun god wanted to bring the wooden beauty back to life and marry her, so he asked everywhere for help. In the end, the sun god married the living wood beauty as he wished, and they lived happily together.
In the early days, there was no sun, no night, and everything had no color. Day and night are in the hands of the powerful night god Imanadarrot and the sun god Hoko Arotu, and they are their private property.
My brother-in-law opened the box containing the darkness.
Imanadarrot, the god of the night, wrapped the darkness in a turban and locked the turban in a bamboo box. Whenever he went out, he warned the surrounding Indians: “Don’t touch that box. As soon as you open it, the light will disappear, and you will never see anything again.”
On that day, the night god Imanadarrot was going to a distant place to fish and pick fruits. Before leaving, he gave the box to his brother-in-law for safekeeping, and told him repeatedly: “You must keep the box safe. Don’t open it, and don’t let anyone touch it.”
After the God of the Night Imanadarrot left, the brother-in-law looked at the box and thought: “What is in the box for my brother-in-law? He always tells everyone, don’t touch it! Don’t touch it! I’d like to see what’s in it. “
So he opened the box and saw something wrapped in a kerchief inside. He started to undo the turban. As soon as the brother-in-law untied the turban, a darkness rushed out from it. The darkness expanded rapidly, and for a while, black pitch the surroundings, and we could have seen nothing, like night. The darkness so frightened her brother-in-law that he burst into tears. He turned around and fled desperately up the mountain to a place that no one knew.
Later, the brother-in-law turned into an owl and the Indians called him by “Docia”.
The God of the Night, Imanadarrot, sent beautiful women to the God of the Sun
Imanadarrot, the god of the night, was picking fruit on the tree, when suddenly darkness approached step by step, and the fruit on the tree disappeared after a while. He exclaimed: “Oops! My brother-in-law opened the box…” As he spoke, he grabbed a handful of branches and lit the fire. Holding the torch, he carefully climbed down from the tree, walked to the river, found his canoe, put the torch in the canoe, and rowed towards home.
On the way, suddenly a pleasant music sound came from afar. Is this a flute? Or a whistle? Or maraca? An ensemble of musical instruments that rattle when a gourd placed rocks.
Imanadarrot, the God of the Night, abandoned the boat and landed, followed the sound of the music, and came to a bright and shining mansion. It turned out that the sun god Hoko Arotu was playing music with a group of Valao’s people at home. Huo Ke Aluotu held a very long rope in his hand, and one end of the rope connected to the sun. As long as he pulls the rope, the sun will come out. If he does not pull the rope, the sun will hide and the world will be in darkness.
The night god Imanadarrot said to the sun god Hoko Arotu: “My brother, the long night has made me tired. My brother-in-law has now released it to make the world dark. If you can make the night turn into daylight, and I will give you a beautiful woman as a reward.”
The sun god agreed. He pulled the rope once, and the sun came out. The dazzling brilliance immediately dispelled the darkness, and the world was bright. Six hours later, he pulled the rope again, and the day turned into darkness again.
The god of the night sent a woodcarving beauty to the god of the sun
The night god said to the sun god: “friend, six hours is too short, please let the sun shine for another six hours.”
The sun god said: “No. Six hours can only exchange to a beauty.”
The God of the Night said: “Then shall I give you another beauty?”
Sun God nodded. So, there are twelve hours, a whole day of white photos.
However, the God of the Night worried because he didn’t have a second beauty to fulfill his promise to the Sun God.
“What should I do?” He walked up and down, thinking about the solution. A tall and straight Ushiru tree shakes and rattles its leaves as if sharing his anxiety.
“Yes.” He said happily, patting his head. He quickly found the carpenter’s tools, cut down the Ushiru tree, selected the best section of trunk, and carved it into a beautiful and lovely woman——a slender figure, a slender waist, expressive and affectionate eyes, and a smiling cherry mouth… Anyone who takes a look at her extraordinary beauty and demeanor will attract him. The night god named her Ushirumani because Ushiru tree made of her.
The sun god wanted to turn the woodcarving beauty into a living woman
The sun god Hoko Arotu fell in love with Ushirumani when he saw her, because she was so beautiful. However, he cannot marry her because she is just a wooden person. This very distressed by the sun god.
“Can’t she become a living woman? I want to marry for her.” the sun god thought hard.
The sun god asks the monkey for help
A monkey came over. The sun god called it to stop: “Wisdom monkey, please turn Ushirumani into a living person, I want to marry her.” The shrewd monkey had no choice but to scratch its chin, shook its head and left.
The sun god asks the toucan for help
A toucan flew over. The sun god greeted it: “Toucan, please turn this woodcarving beauty into a living person, and I want to marry her.”
Toucan used its huge beak to peck and peck at the wooden head. Suddenly it pecked at a place, and a stream of bright red blood came out from there, dyeing toucan’s head red. Toucan called sidra bird for help and dyed it red all over. From then on, sidra bird was fiery red. The parrot also flew to help, and it dyed its chest red.
The blood that flowed from Ushirumani’s body was very strange, changing colors. Later, many birds flew to help, and people dyed they in various colors that people like. When the blood became white as milk, a flock of herons came and dyed themselves white. Finally, the blood congealed and turned black, and the mountain eagle flew in and rolled in it, and the mountain eagle became black.
Woodcarving beauty Ushirumani becomes a living woman
Ushirumani is alive, she can talk, laugh and walk like a real woman, and she is more gentle, beautiful and lovely.
Since then, there have been day and night in the world. All kinds of birds also have their own feathers of different colors. This is all because of Ushirumani.
